tiny town
Tiny Town stands at the intersection of terrain, the body, and the physiological embodiment of environment -- from weather to Wal-Marts. Inspired by Midwestern landscape and climate, the region's complicated cultural and political histories, and the role the horizon plays in shaping human identity, Tiny Town explores disappearing into the lay of the land -- geographical, emotional, anatomical, and cultural -- and reappearing. Performed by Kristin Van Loon, Morgan Thorson, Megan Mayer, Karen Sherman, Joanna Furnans and Marcus Young.
This project, commissioned by The Walker Art Center and The Southern Theater in Minneapolis, premiered July 2006. Here are a few images that inspired our process, as well as images from the performance itself.
